Ads are meant to get people to buy something. This ad is no different, The Allstate ads want you to have their insurance for your home, cars, etc. In this as the author wants the audience to feel like they could actually be protected through their insurance and not want to end up like the peoples house that is getting broken into. This ad is trying to promote a safe lifestyle for their customers. All ads have targeted audiences, this one would be towards adults who need insurance on their belongings.
The context of this ad is placed in a regular neighborhood, the house has nice belongings. The problem isn't the house it's self, but the fact that the family let a lot of people know that they wouldn't be home. As of "American Culture" there doesn't seem to be anything specifically placed in this ad to show it, other than the burglar being an American. The publics reaction to this ad is mainly laughter. These Allstate ads are known to be funny, thus being because the actor does things that a real burglar may not do causing the ad to not feel as serious.
There are many details in this as. The design of this ad uses people, objects and is a video so there are no stand alone pictures that give no detail. The first thing you see in this ad are two happy people who posted that they are out on vacation. As the ad goes on you can see that the person in the house is not the owner and does not belong there, instead he is the burglar. He starts to go through the house worry free while breaking things in the home. The ad is set up this way to have people intrigued and then thinl about what if that was them and what insurance do they have. There is a modern tone, nothing drastic in this ad. The ad seems to be very calm considering the situation.
As Americans, we look for the ads or things that make us laugh and a lot of the time, that is what sells us. Great job on your blog.
